Ingredients

  • 2kg-4kg Chicken Wings
  • 1/2 cup flour, salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 cloves of fresh garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, finely diced
  • 1/2 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp corn starch

Method

  • Preheat oven to 220 degrees. Grab some paper towels and dab the wings until completely dry.
  • Toss the wings with flour, salt and pepper. Don’t forget to remove any excess flour and brush with olive oil. You can also use olive spray if you prefer.
  • Line a pan with some foil and bake for 35 minutes turning them over at 20 minutes.
  • To make the sauce: Half a cup of honey, 4 tablespoons soy sauce, 4 garlic cloves (crushed), 1 tablespoon ginger (finely diced), half teaspoon chilli flakes, ½ cup water and 1 teaspoon of corn starch.
  • Combine the sauce ingredients into a small pan.
  • Bring this to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until the sauce is slightly thickened. To check this, get a spoon and see if the sauce coats it. If it does, it’s ready to go.
  • Take the wings from the oven, toss it with the honey garlic sauce and then return it back to the oven for 10 minutes, turning it after 5 minutes.
  • Allow to cool 10 minutes. As the sauce cools, it thickens. Stir the wings every few minutes to coat in the sauce as it thickens.
